Monthly Hotel Stays in The Woodlands

Published Oct 20, 2026

The Woodlands is the north Houston market for a monthly stay: a planned community with its own town center, big employers along I-45, and 30 hotels in our October 2026 list across The Woodlands, Shenandoah, Conroe and Spring. Listed 30-night rates here ran from about $57 to $193 a night, with a middle value of $106 across the 25 hotels that publish a monthly rate. Those are listed rates for November 2 to December 2, 2026, not hotel-confirmed quotes.

The areas at a glance

  • The Woodlands proper: 3 hotels in our list, next to Market Street, the Waterway and the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion.
  • Shenandoah: 7 hotels, the strip along I-45 at the south edge of The Woodlands.
  • Conroe: 9 hotels, the next city north, with some of the lower listed monthly rates in the market.
  • Spring: 11 hotels, the south side toward Houston, including the area near the ExxonMobil campus.

The Woodlands proper

The Woodlands itself is the smallest hotel cluster in our list but the most walkable. Staying near the Waterway or Market Street puts restaurants, groceries and the pavilion in walking distance, which is rare in north Houston. The two hotels here with public monthly rates listed a middle value near $118 a night in our data. If your work is in The Woodlands and budget allows, this is the easy choice.

Shenandoah: the I-45 strip

Shenandoah sits where I-45 meets the south edge of The Woodlands, and its hotels are built for highway access. Six hotels here publish monthly rates, with a middle value near $122 a night in our October 2026 list and the widest range in the market, from about $57 to $193. Read the room type carefully at the low end: the cheapest listed monthly rates in the market are here, and so are some of the highest.

Conroe: the budget north

Conroe, just north of The Woodlands, had 9 hotels in our list, 7 with public monthly rates at a middle value of $106 a night. It trades The Woodlands' polish for lower prices and a straight shot down I-45. If your month is about the job and not the address, Conroe is worth a look.

Spring: the south side

Spring, between The Woodlands and Houston, had 11 hotels in our list, 10 with public monthly rates at a middle value near $97 a night, the lowest middle value in the market. The ExxonMobil campus area sits here, and the Grand Parkway (TX-99) gives west-east access without touching I-45.

The commute to Houston

Downtown Houston is roughly 30 to 40 miles south on I-45, and I-45 traffic is the deciding fact of a Woodlands month. If you commute to downtown daily, test the drive at your real hours before you book; if you work in The Woodlands itself, everything above is inside a short local drive. The Grand Parkway helps for destinations west and east.

Prices and taxes on a monthly stay

Across the 30 Woodlands-market hotels in our October 2026 list, 25 publish a 30-night rate, running from about $57 to $193 a night with a middle value of $106. For comparison, the wider Houston list of 321 hotels shows a middle listed rate of $97 a night. Listed rates for November 2 to December 2, 2026, not hotel-confirmed quotes; ask the hotel for the full monthly total in writing.

On taxes: Texas charges a 6 percent state hotel tax, and guests who stay 30 or more days and notify the hotel in writing beforehand are exempt from it from the day of notification, per the Texas Comptroller's FAQ checked on October 20, 2026. Inside The Woodlands Township, the township adds its own hotel occupancy tax on top of the state's; the township reports a combined 15 percent total rate (9 percent township plus 6 percent state), per its official tax page checked on October 20, 2026. Local rules on long stays differ from state rules, so ask the hotel to show each tax line. This is general information, not tax advice.

What we found

Two findings from our research. First, choice: with 30 hotels across four neighboring areas, the Woodlands market has real depth for its size, and 25 of the 30 publish a monthly rate, so comparing takes minutes. Second, spread: listed monthly rates run from about $57 to $193 a night, and the lowest middle values are in Spring and Conroe, not in The Woodlands proper. Decide whether the address or the price is doing the work for your month. Listed rates from our October 2026 research, not hotel-confirmed quotes.
