Monthly Hotel Stays Near Chicago: A Suburban Operator Checklist
Published Oct 30, 2026
This guide examines suburban Chicago examples from InTown Suites and WoodSpring Suites, checked October 30, 2026. It does not claim the whole monthly market is suburban, that these brands dominate it or that their totals are lower than downtown alternatives without matching quotes.
InTown's three listed suburbs
InTown's Chicago article lists Villa Park at 350 E Roosevelt Road, Elk Grove Village at 2411 Landmeier Road and Downers Grove at 2540 Ogden Avenue. It advertises no leases or credit checks, weekly and monthly options, online renewal, weekly housekeeping and guest laundry. Its premium-suite description includes a refrigerator, microwave and two-burner stovetop, with furniture varying by location. Confirm the booked suite's equipment and current service schedule.
WoodSpring's Chicago-area page
The WoodSpring page lists eleven properties near Chicago. Its Chicago Midway entry at 5001 W 79th Street in Burbank describes kitchens, nightly/weekly/monthly rates, proximity to I-55 and I-294 and a CTA bus stop within walking distance. Darien lists weekly/monthly rates and pet-friendly rooms. Do not turn a nearby bus stop into a verified workplace commute, or one property's pet policy into a network promise.
The price still needs a date-specific quote
The excerpts used here do not establish a fixed monthly table for the chosen properties. Request the same dates, occupancy and room type from each operator and compare taxes, parking, cleaning and deposits. No published evidence here establishes a suburban-versus-downtown savings percentage.
Illinois can refund the first month's hotel tax
IDOR defines a permanent resident by the right to occupy for at least thirty consecutive days. It says no hotel tax is due with a qualifying binding contract and a guest who completes thirty days may request a refund of hotel tax already paid from the hotel. This is not only a prospective day-31 reduction. Other local taxes need their own check.
Before requesting a quote
- Check the actual commute at the hours you will travel.
- Ask which suite tier and kitchen equipment the quote covers.
- Get the full stay total and the early-exit cost.
- If Illinois permanent-resident conditions are met, ask for the exemption or hotel refund process in writing.
Make the comparison on the same dates
A suburban suite can be worth considering, but the decision needs an address-specific commute and an all-in quote. Keep a binding stay agreement and continuous occupancy records if relying on Illinois' permanent-resident treatment.
