Monthly Hotel Stays Near the Texas Medical Center in Houston
Published Oct 21, 2026
The Texas Medical Center is the largest medical complex in the world, with about 10 million patient encounters a year, per TMC's own site checked on October 21, 2026. Treatment programs, visiting families and clinical rotations all turn into month-long hotel stays, and the market around the campus is built for exactly that. Our October 2026 Houston list has 12 hotels in the Medical Center and NRG area and the streets just south of it, and 10 of them publish a 30-night rate. Listed rates ran from about $79 to $197 a night, with a middle value near $112 a night. Those are listed rates for November 2 to December 2, 2026, not hotel-confirmed quotes.
The areas at a glance
- Medical Center / NRG proper: 6 hotels in our list, closest to the hospitals and the stadium, the most convenient and usually the priciest.
- Just south (South Main and the NRG edge): 6 more hotels that market directly to Medical Center guests, including some of the lowest listed monthly rates in the cluster.
- Pearland: 7 more hotels in our list, the next city south on TX-288, worth a look when the close-in cluster is full or pricey.
Staying inside the Medical Center area
The close-in hotels exist for one reason: the hospitals. When you call, ask about weekly housekeeping, a kitchenette, hospital shuttle service and a quiet room; on a treatment schedule these four decide most of the stay. In our list, the Medical Center and NRG hotels showed listed rates from about $79 to $197 a night.
The south edge and Pearland
The hotels just south of the campus, along South Main and toward the 610 loop, undercut the close-in addresses: the lowest listed rates in the cluster, from about $79 a night, sit here. Pearland, ten to fifteen minutes down TX-288, adds 7 more hotels in our list and suits longer treatment programs where a daily short drive beats a nightly premium.
Getting to the hospitals
The METRORail Red Line connects downtown Houston and the Medical Center along Main Street, with stops at Memorial Hermann Hospital / Houston Zoo, Dryden / TMC and the TMC Transit Center; the ride from downtown is about 22 minutes, per METRO's TMC page checked on October 21, 2026. Inside the campus, most hotels are a short drive or shuttle ride from any given hospital building, so the exact building you need matters more than the hotel's marketing line.
Prices and taxes on a monthly stay
Across the 12 hotels in our October 2026 list for this cluster, 10 publish a 30-night rate, from about $79 to $197 a night with a middle value near $112 a night. Listed rates for November 2 to December 2, 2026, not hotel-confirmed quotes; ask the hotel for the full monthly total in writing.
On taxes: Texas charges a 6 percent state hotel tax, and guests who stay 30 or more days and notify the hotel in writing beforehand are exempt from it from the day of notification, per the Texas Comptroller's FAQ checked on October 21, 2026. The Comptroller's own example shows Houston's full stack: 6 percent state, 7 percent city, 2 percent Harris County and 2 percent Harris County - Houston Sports Authority. Local rules on long stays can differ from state rules, so ask the hotel to show each tax line. This is general information, not tax advice.
What we found
Two findings from our research. First, this is a small, purpose-built cluster: 12 hotels in and around the area, so the best-value rooms go early around big treatment and conference seasons. Second, the cheap seats are just outside: the south-edge hotels in our list showed a middle listed rate near $108 a night, about $50 below the $160-a-night middle inside the Medical Center and NRG area itself. Listed rates from our October 2026 research, not hotel-confirmed quotes.
